How to diagnose and Repair a sewer ejector pump

A sewer ejector pump is a pump that assists with removing waste water from your home. They are needed if you have a basement or a yard that has a slope back toward the house. In this case a traditional gravity drain will not work and the homeowner will need to have a pump to let the wastewater out and into the sewer main.

A piggyback float is a mechanism inside of the basin where the pump sits. The float tells the pump switch when to turn on and turn off by the water level, much like your gas light comes on to warn you when you are low on gas.

In this video, the plumber diagnoses and replaces a failed piggyback float. Watch what happens when the basin is filled back up after being replaced.
