Dye tab tests can reveal whether or not your toilet is running. You could even use kool-aid or food dye. Place it in the tank and let it sit for 15-20 minutes without flushing. If you see any of the color enter into the bowl of the toilet, it means one of the components in the tank is allowing water to pass causing a running toilet. The sooner you get it fixed, the sooner you start saving on that water bill!
